Most college students know little tips and tricks to use to make their college life a little easier -- and a little less expensive. Whether it's using your student ID at the movie theater or using an education discount when buying a new computer, there are seemingly endless deals out there if you know where to look.
Because the collective buying power of college students is so strong, many websites specifically target college students and offer them some great deals. It's hard to know about these great resources, however, if you're not sure which sites are trustworthy and which ones are just trying to get your information.
To help sort through the mess, a new category was being introduced in the 2013 About.com Readers' Choice Awards: Best Website for Student Deals. We wanted to ensure that, if you knew of a site that offers great deals and/or discounts for college students -- whether it's a specific vendor, a site that offers a daily deal, or a site that offers deals in a specific market (like travel) -- you could submit a nomination!
The timeline for the 2013 Readers' Choice Awards was as follows:
- Nominations were accepted from January 14 - February 11, 2013
- Voting took place from February 19 - March 19, 2013
- Winners were announced on March 27, 2013
While this page was where nominations were originally accepted, the nomination phase has now closed.
Based on results from the nomination phase, three finalists advanced to the voting stage. You can read their individual profiles or learn more about StudentRate, the 2013 winner for "Best Website for Student Deals!"
Please also note that the About.com Guide to College Life, Kelci Lynn Lucier, facilitated the process. She selected the final nominees based on the number and quality of nominations received. For more information on the awards, please visit the 2013 About.com Readers' Choice Awards homepage.
