Even though your campus bookstore may be overloaded with books available for purchase, renting textbooks instead of buying them can often be a cheaper and faster option for college students. And when you're already short on time and money, anything that makes your college life easier is worth a little recognition.
Fortunately, many companies offering textbook rentals have opened their virtual doors recently. Unfortunately, however, it can be hard to know which websites are worthy of your hard-earned money -- and your trust.
Given how much of an expense college textbooks are for students, the 2013 About.com Readers' Choice Award for Best Website for Renting College Textbooks aims to help make renting textbooks online a little less scary. After all, some websites do a bang-up job and should be recognized for it.
The timeline for the 2013 Readers' Choice Awards was as follows:
- Nominations were accepted from January 14 - February 11, 2013
- Voting took place from February 19 - March 19, 2013
- Winners were announced on March 27, 2013
While this page was where nominations were originally accepted, the nomination phase has now closed.
Based on results from the nomination phase, three finalists advanced to the voting stage. You can read their individual profiles or learn more about Chegg, the 2013 winner for "Best Website for Renting Textbooks!"
Please also note that the About.com Guide to College Life, Kelci Lynn Lucier, facilitated the process. She selected the final nominees based on the number and quality of nominations received. For more information on the awards, please visit the 2013 About.com Readers' Choice Awards homepage.
