Name of Club or Organization:
College or University:
"DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the United States that helps young people rock causes they care about. A driving force in creating a culture of volunteerism, DoSomething.org is on track to activate two million young people in 2011. By leveraging the web, television, mobile, and pop culture, DoSomething.org inspires, empowers and celebrates a generation of doers: teenagers who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action."
DoSomething.org has a mission aimed at supporting young adults in making a difference. Consequently, Do Something projects focus on a wide range of issues and take a wide range of formats (fundraising, volunteer work, donation drive, etc.). They work with young adults to support on-the-ground initiatives.
Can I Replicate This Group on My Campus?:
Definitely! Doing so, in fact, is part of the DoSomething.Org model. Students can create a Do Something project that, for example, collects clothes to send to people living in an area recently hit by a natural disaster. As their name implies, they want to help support young adults in actually doing something to make a difference, so creating a Do Something group on your campus is a great first step.
