5 Places to Go for a College Romantic Getaway

Things Don't Have to Be Fancy and Expensive to Be Romantic and Fun

By , About.com Guide

Thinking of taking your college boyfriend or girlfriend on a romantic getaway in college -- but aren't sure where to go? Or are you wanting a change of pace from the usual dinner, drinking, clubbing scene? Check out these 5 suggestions of where to go on a romantic getaway in college to help liven things up.

5 Places to Go for a College Romantic Getaway

  1. A local bed and breakfast. They're cute, they're charming, they can be cheaper than big hotels and they often include a nice, homemade breakfast -- sometimes even brought to your door. See what's available near your college that won't require tons of travel but that will still feel like an escape from campus life.

  2. An artsy hotel. There are quite a few independent, artsy hotels that may be just what you both need. And "artsy" can mean old, art-deco architecture, a funky theme, or even fun art all over the place. This can be a great idea, too, if you don't have a lot of money to spend, as you can just hang out in the hotel looking around.

  3. A hotel by a show or concert you are both going to. If you boyfriend or girlfriend's favorite band is performing nearby and you're planning on attending, why not splurge for a hotel room near the performance? The hotel doesn't have to be fancy since you'll probably just be using it as a place to crash, but that little room can make the weekend seem like a much-needed vacation from school.

  4. A hotel out in nature. You can find a cute, quaint (and cheap) little lodge somewhere that lets you get out in nature, whether it be hiking in the mountains, hanging out at the beach, or skiing the slopes. But, amidst the craziness of college life, a little time out in nature might be just what you both need right now.

  5. Someplace new and unexpected. If you both live in a big city, head to a tiny town neither of you have been to before. And if you are going to school in a small town, head somewhere new that is larger and has more to do and see. After all, the only thing you really need to make your college getaway a romantic one is the two of you and a change of pace. Enjoy!
