Religious Life in College
It's Possible to Still Be a Part of a Religious Community While in School

By Kelci Lynn, About.com

Your religious practice may be an important and very personal part of your life. Going to college doesn't have to change that in any way, however. In fact, you may even find your religious life more enriching and rewarding while you're in school.

Most campuses offer services to students. There may be an interfaith center on campus that accommodates all student groups, or your school may have a relationship with a church, temple, or mosque nearby. Given the educational missions of many colleges and universities, your school will most likely work with you to meet your religious needs. Often times, campuses will keep a room open for Muslim student prayer services, Jewish Shabbat dinners, or Buddhist student meditation times.

Additionally, most campuses offer programs and services that are open to the entire campus population. Curious about a religion other than your own? Find out what activities are going on in any given, and see if you can attend. It's a great way to meet people and learn about a new religion.

Lastly, if you don't see any resources that fit your needs, talk to your school administration about setting something up. It's easier than you might think, and there are most likely other students out there who have similar needs.
