You may have noticed that this week's Campus Highlight is late. I'll spare all you kind readers the details, but let's just say that the flu swept through my house. And it was ugly.
Fortunately, I have the resources available to access medical care ... but I know that improving the health of our communities is an important issue. For this week's Campus Highlight, then, I'm choosing to focus on a student organization that works to provide resources for those in need.
At Saint Anselm College (Manchester, NH), the Koinonia Society's "main function is to work within the local community as an independent service organization. Annually, the women assist the Halloween Party at 'Our Place' (a center for battered women), the Children's' Fairs, Special Olympics Swim Meet, and provide care packages during finals." They are also sponsoring a "Run with Your Heart" 5K on February 10, where "100% of the proceeds benefit cancer fundraising through Relay for Life!"
Keep up the good work, Hawks! And good luck with your race!
