It's not uncommon -- especially in a rough economy -- to have friends, family, and even complete strangers ask: "So, what are you going to do with an English degree?" As an English major myself, I've lost track of how many people asked me that before, during, and after college.
While I'm admittedly completely biased about the flexibility and skill set that come with an English degree (and even have an article on 21 great careers for English majors), it was nice to see CNN's "School of Thought" blog address the issue on January 4. The author's answer to the annoying (and slightly condescending) question posed above? "Plenty!" It's a good read with data to back up his position, too ... meaning it's a great article to forward to all of those nosy friends, family, and even strangers.
