Friday June 20, 2008
Northwestern University's School of Law, located in Chicago, announced on June 20 that they will now offer a 2-year and 3-year program for earning a JD. Both programs require the same amount of credits and courses. As they state in a press release about the new, shortened program:
Northwestern Law will be the only law school among top-tier institutions to offer an accelerated two-year JD program as well as the traditional three-year JD program. ... As an initial vehicle for developing the targeted competencies, the accelerated JD program will require the same number of credits as the traditional three-year JD program but will minimize opportunity costs and maximize learning for high achievers eager to resume their careers. The University of Dayton School of Law (Dayton, OH) and Southwestern Law School (Los Angeles, CA) also offer 2-year JD programs.
